Aparmita is the name given
to Amitabha in his character of bestower of longevity. From the vase in his hands fall strings of beads, which represent sacred pills. To obtain long life a special ceremony is held to Aparmita using a dough mixture as the pills. The pills are taken by the worshipers during the ceremony with the stong conviction that their lives will be prolonged through their faith in Aparmita. |
